Look What’s Knew at the Nokomis Public Library
Through the Illinois State Library, the Nokomis Public Library received a grant from funds supplied by the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and Library Services Technology Act (LSTA), both from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
The Nokomis Public Library has purchased six laptops, six chrome books, eleven hotspots, headphones and microphones for patron checkout.
Library employees have been working very hard to get all these items cataloged, the laptops and chrome books set-up for public use, and the hot spots activated. Policies have been written and patrons will need to read and sign before checkout. The patron must be at least 18 years of age to borrow these items.
The library will have items available for check out on June 23, 2022.
The new items will give you a chance to have Internet service at your own home or office, plus an updated device to use. They may be used for work, school, or entertainment. You will be able to use for Zoom meeting, virtual interviews or doctor visits.
The Nokomis Public Library hopes to narrow the digital divide for their community with this new service.
